This year’s Foster Care Fortnight has been launched by the Fostering Network.
As the name suggests, the Network is a charity which has been working to promote foster care for close to 20 years and the Fortnight is their biggest awareness-raising event each year, designed to showcase the commitment and dedication of existing foster carers and highlight the need for new recruits.
Participants can download and display posters and placards, take part in online campaigns and make dondations to the charity.
This annual typically attracts significant media coverage and the vocal support of celebrities and politicians.
The Fostering Network explained:
“Thousands of new foster families are needed every year to care for children, with the greatest need being for foster carers for older children, sibling groups, disabled children and unaccompanied asylum seeking children.”
