Hampshire agencies praised for domestic violence work

Frontline agencies involved in work with victims of domestic abuse across Hampshire have been praised by inspectors.

A joint inspection conducted by the Police, the Probation service, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission found “strong” work in the field, particularly in the protection of children, by social workers and other professionals involved in related work.

A letter addressed to the director of children’s services at Hampshire County Council and the other organisations examined noted effective coordination:

“…it is evident that leaders in all organisations are committed to the partnership and that they appropriately prioritise the protection of these children”.

The inclusion of domestic abuse specialists in the county’s family intervention team is also singled out for praise. It was, they said, “an impressive and creative service that generated its own evidence of effectiveness and impact”.
