Russian oligarch battles ex-wife over multi-million London home
Alexei Golubovich and then wife Olga Mirimskaya moved to London in 2003, and bought the now disputed £6.4 million home, which stands on the banks of the Thames.
But the marriage came to an end and the couple separated in 2008. They eventually divorced in Russia last year, the Evening Standard reports. But the former husband and wife both insist the home in Hammersmith belongs to them and they have now launched rival lawsuits in the High Court.
Mirimskaya, the owner of a successful food manufacturing firm, says the home was bought using an offshore company belonging to her, so her former husband has no claim even though he property is in his name. She wants to give the property to her daughter, the paper claims. But Mr Golubovich, a former employee of the Yukos Oil Company, insists that the property was transferred to him when the couple separated and divided their assets in 2008.
In 2011, the couple’s son Ilya also took to the London courts, appealing a judge’s decision to award his ex-wife £2.85 million even though the divorce lasted just 18 months. He lost the appeal.
According to the Standard, this is the first time two generations of a foreign family have disputed aspects of their divorce in the London courts.
