News: Russell Crowe separates from his wife
New Zealand-born actor Russell Crowe is reported to have separated from his wife of nine years, Danielle Spencer, with a view to divorce.
The couple, who married in April 2003 on Crowe’s cattle ranch in New South Wales, have not commented on the reasons for the split, although stories suggest that Crowe’s hectic filming schedule may have contributed. He appears in no less than seven films either due for release or in the production over the next year.
According to a report in the Australian Daily Telegraph, Crowe has been living in a separate home to Spencer and the couple’s two sons during return visits to Sydney.
A prenuptial agreement signed in 2003 could mean a substantial divorce settlement for 43 year-old Spencer. As the couple stayed together for longer than three years, she is guaranteed at least AU$15 million, plus a percentage of Crowe’s earnings.
48 year-old Crowe rose to fame following the success of the 2000 film Gladiator. He has appeared in numerous films since, including A Beautiful Mind, American Gangster,3:10 to Yuma and Robin Hood.
