Social work exams due to start in November

Examinations for children’s social workers are scheduled for introduction in November.

The exams will mark the first phase in the national rollout of a new accreditation scheme for social workers who work directly with children. They will be held across the 31 local authority regions which have volunteered to take part.

The news comes via a bidding tender published by the Department for Education, Children & Young People Now reports. This states that the successful bidder will need to be able to conduct “the assessment of approximately 8,000 social workers between November 2017 and December 2018″.

Whichever firm secures the contract will have to recruit assessors and set up assessment centres in the different regions.

Senior social workers in management roles at all 152 local authorities will also take part in the first phase. National participation is scheduled for 2019.
