Charlie Sheen asks family courts to suspend his child support payments
According to a report on TMZ, Sheen has filed documents asking for his monthly payments to be reduced from $55,000 to zero.
Mueller lost custody of the couple’s twin sons, Bob and Max, in May after entering rehab for alleged drug problems. The socialite was Sheen’s third wife. His second wife, actress Denise Richards, was awarded temporary custody of the twins and has refused money from Sheen for doing so.
Sheen reportedly believes she should not have to pay child support to Mueller while the boys remain with Richards. In his court documents, the actor cites the example of his former Two And A Half Men co-star Jon Cryer. According o the report, Cryer’s ex-wife temporarily lost custody of their son and he applied for his own child support of $10,000 per month to be suspended. The courts agreed to reduce the payments and Sheen believes this sets a precedent for his own situation.
Sheen is the youngest son of West Wing star Martin Sheen. He starred in the successful and long-running sitcom Two And A Half Men from its premiere in 2003 until his dismissal from the show in March 2011. He is currently appearing in comedy series Anger Management.
