Government releases new family mediation video for divorcing couples

Government video screenshotThe Ministry of Justice has launched a new public information video designed to raise awareness of family mediation services.

The video, entitled simply Family Mediation, sets out ways in which mediation can help couples going through divorce or separation – for example, helping to resolve disputes over childcare and residence, maintenance and other financial matters.

The three minute video uses a simple animation style reminiscent of children’s cartoons, representing divorcing families as birds on rooftops, jostling between chimneys and TV aerials.

The message is a straightforward one:

Separating?

Arguing about who gets what?

Can’t agree on arrangements for the kids?

Mediation can help…

Mediation is, viewers are told, about “talking things through and agreeing arrangements for the future”.
