Courtney Cox and David Arquette finalise divorce

Courtney CoxCourtney Cox has finalised her divorce from actor and director David Arquette.

The 48 year-old actress, best known for her role as Monica Geller in Friends, separated from Arquette in October 2010, but the couple did not file to end their decade-long marriage until June last year.

A final judgement has now been entered at Los Angeles County Superior Court, People magazine reports. The signed documents state:

“Irreconcilable differences have caused the irremediable breaking of the marriage. The marital status of the parties is terminated.”

Both have requested joint custody of their daughter Coco, who turns nine next month.

During their lengthy separation the couple remained on good terms according to reports, with each publicly praising the other. Earlier this year, Cox, who now stars in sitcom Cougar Town, told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres:

“He’s my best friend in the world. I love him.”

A week later, actor and director Arquette, 41, told People:

“She’s incredible. … I love her, too, and she’s an amazing person, a beautiful person.”
