Smartphones and social networks have led to a surge in infidelity and fraud, a new firm of private investigators has claimed.
Mycheating.com claims that
*Facebook was cited as the reason for one third of divorces during 2011.
*There are 15 million people registered users of online dating sites in the UK – nearly four million more than the total number of unattached people in the country.
*While one in five couples now meet online, no less than one third of online daters admit to having lied in their profiles.
·*As many as 200,000 people in the UK were caught in online dating scams during 2011 – some losing thousands of pounds.
*Seventy per cent of the infidelity investigates at Mycheating.com involve technology.
Company co-founder Victoria Coxen said: “The Internet, and specifically social networks, have changed the way we interact with each other. And one of the negative consequences is that it has become easier for people to cheat. Social media and technological advancements have put temptation at our fingertips, and this is demonstrated by the meteoric rise in extra-marital encounters.”
