Actress and mathematician Danica McKellar completes divorce
US actress and mathematician Danica McKellar has finalised her divorce from husband Mike Verta.
The 38 year-old filed for divorce in June last year, citing irreconcilable differences, and a court has now granted the divorce, ending their three year marriage, according to a report on celebrity site TMZ. The couple have a two year old son called Draco.
The judge also ruled that a prenuptial agreement signed in 2009 is still valid. This sets out custody and maintenance arrangement s but details have not been released.
“The end of a marriage has got to be one of the saddest events one can experience – I’ve heard that the pain is second only to an actual death in the family, and that sounds about right. ‘However, I am so grateful that my relationship with my ex, Mike Verta, has been nothing but amicable, and that this process seems like it will be as smooth as can be hoped for. We are both totally in love with our little boy, and believe this is the best thing for him.”
McKellar is best known for her appearance in popular US comedy-drama The Wonder Years but has also written four books on mathematics aimed at girls aged nine and upwards. She holds a degree in mathematics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
Mike Verta is a composer.
