ITV This Morning: Divorce Clinic
Earlier today I appeared on ITV This Morning, for the programme’s latest Divorce Clinic. Once again, viewers called and emailed with their questions about divorce.
As always, the questions were varied: today’s subjects ranged from child maintenance to international family law. Incidentally the international caller, a former British expat with a wife based in Spain, was concerned that his wife intended to commence divorce proceedings in Spain, and not in England. I pointed out that if she did file for divorce in Spain, where very different rules govern financial settlements, it might be to his advantage! The website that I recommended to him is Couples in Europe, which gives detailed information about family law in all 27 EU countries.

I went through a painful divorce last year. My wife walked out in January 2011 after 22 years of marriage and with no warning. It took me a long time to get over but to anyone going through a similar situation there is light at the end of the tunnekl. I joined a dating website called Divorced Date and found it easier re-entering the dating game in an environment where I could meet others who had gone through a similar trauma.
