Jennifer Lopez recalls ‘devastating’ divorce
Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has described her recent divorce from salsa singer Marc Anthony as “devastating”.
Talking to Hollywoodlife.com, the 43 year-old performer said: “I was going through a divorce and the breakup of a family, which was devastating to me because family means everything to me.”
She added: “I didn’t want to be the woman who stayed in bed for months. I did do that a little, but I knew I had to get through it.”
She continued: “I’d dance every day, I’d work out, I’d say a little prayer and I still wouldn’t feel any better. Then I’d go to bed and get up the next day and do it all again. It was a process, and it very gradually got a little easier.”
Lopez married Marc Anthony, one of the highest selling salsa artists of all time, in 2004. It was his second marriage and her third. The marriage took place less than a week after his divorce from Puerto Rican performer Dayanara Torres, a former Miss Universe.
Lopez gave birth to their children, twins Max and Emme, in 2008. The couple separated in July last year and Marc Anthony eventually filed for divorce in April.
