News: Complex domestic life of French journalist detailed in new biography
According to a newly published book, French political journalist Valérie Trierweiler had simultaneous affairs with politicians François Hollande, now Prime Minister, and opposition minister Patrick Devedjian.
Both M. Devedian, 68, and Mme. Trierweiler, 47, were married at the time, while M. Hollande was living with former partner Ségolène Royal, a fellow politician and the mother of his four children.
M. Hollande and Ségolène Royal are members of the French Socialist Party.
M. Devedjian, meanwhile, is a member of the opposition UMP party.
According to reports, Mme Trierweiler , who works for Paris Match, asked M. Devedjian to leave his wife of more than 30 years for her, and when he declined to do so, she began to focus on M. Hollande. She is now M Hollande’s partner. Reports also claim that the two men were aware of the simultaneous affair.
The allegations are contained in La Frondeuse (The Rebellious One), a new unauthorised biography of Mme Trierweiler by Christophe Jakubyszyn and Alix Bouilhaguet.
